MEET LIZZIE & EVAN

A Family Homestead in Southwest Minnesota

The Stock Pallet Homestead is the family farm of Lizzie and Evan, who live with their five children between Balaton and Russell, Minnesota. What began as a love for homegrown food, homemade baking, and farm life has grown into a homestead where their family raises animals, gathers farm-fresh eggs, and creates handcrafted sourdough baked goods for their local community.

Their goal is simple: to share wholesome, homemade food while building a life rooted in family, hard work, and the rhythms of the farm. From market days to baking days, The Stock Pallet Homestead is truly a family effort.

LIFE ON THE HOMESTEAD

From the Farm to the Bakery

Life at The Stock Pallet Homestead brings together the things Lizzie and Evan value most: raising their family, caring for animals, growing food, and making things from scratch. Their homestead is home to chickens and Mangalitsa pigs, while their cottage bakery gives Lizzie another way to share homemade food with families throughout southwest Minnesota.

The chickens provide the farm-fresh pasture eggs sold through local markets, farm stands, and online preorders. In the bakery, sourdough is the foundation for a rotating selection of breads and baked goods made with a traditional, handcrafted approach.

WHY SOURDOUGH

A Traditional Approach That Fits Our Homestead

Sourdough became a natural fit for The Stock Pallet Homestead because it reflects the same made-from-scratch approach Lizzie and Evan value throughout life on the farm. Traditional fermentation takes time and patience, but the result is bread with distinctive flavor, texture, and character.

For Lizzie, sourdough also offered a way to create baked goods using a fermentation process that may make bread easier for some people to digest and can improve the availability of certain nutrients. Today, sourdough remains at the heart of the homestead’s cottage bakery and continues to inspire a changing selection of handcrafted breads and baked goods.
